Verifiable Parental Consent (VPC) is an essential process at Miko that ensures your child’s privacy and safety while using our platform. In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), VPC requires obtaining explicit consent from a parent or guardian before a child can access our services. This process helps protect your child’s sensitive information and ensures a secure digital experience. Completing the parental consent is a regulatory requirement and mandatory as per the FTC guidelines.
How to Complete Verifiable Parental Consent (VPC)?
Follow these simple steps to complete the VPC process:
-
Confirm and Verify Identity: When pairing your Miko robot, a parental consent page will automatically appear in the Parent App. Click "confirm and verify identity" to begin.
-
Choose a Verification Method:
- Credit Card Consent: You'll be redirected to a payment page to complete a nominal transaction of ₹1 (for India) or $0 (for the USA) to confirm you're an adult. Indian customers can use credit/debit cards, UPI, pay later, or Netbanking.
- Email Consent: If you prefer, you can verify via email. You'll receive a request, and clicking on "I agree and provide my consent" will complete the process.
-
Access the Miko App: Once your consent is verified, you'll have full access to the Miko App to manage your child's Miko experience.
Please note that Verifiable Parental Consent is mandatory for customers in India and the USA but may not be required in other regions.
